A simple and fast launcher.

Features

  • keyboard-compatible: basically full-controlled by keyboards
  • history: minimizes the number of keyboard types
  • search path: register frequently accessed files or its aliases
  • Terminal activation: opens Terminal on a working directory of the front Finder window

How to Use

Call Ignition

To call Ignition, just press the key bind specified in the preferences. The default key bind is Control + Command + R. Then a small window appears like below.

Launch the Target

Type the target name into the combo box, then press Enter key. Ignition recognizes file names in search paths, file paths, application names, and URLs as its targets.

Launch Terminal (from Ver 1.2)

Opens Terminal on a working directory of the front Finder window.

Autocomplete the Target Name

Ignition autocompletes the target name corresponds to the user input with its history. To show another candidate, press Tab key (or Shift + Tab). Use Tab key even if the cursor is in the middle of the string, then a intermediate string will be complemented. Note that you need to once launch the target to register it to the history.

Automatic Indexing and Suggestion (from Ver 1.1)

Instead of registering target names into the history for autocompletion, Ignition automatically indexes and suggests target names. Ignition indexes target names on its activation.

Setting up Search Paths

Locate target files in search paths with convenient names, then you can access those files with its convenient names.

Resize the window (from Ver 1.3)

The main window can be resized by dragging the edge of it.

Limit the number of history records

Ignition loads history when it is activated. In case it takes long until the Ignition window comes up, try to limit the number of history records. The old records will be automatically removed from the history to fit to the specified limitation.

Dismiss/Quit Ignition

Press Escape key to dismiss, or Option + Command + Q to quit completely.

Hints

Searching Order

Ignition searches the target in the following order.

  1. files in the search paths
  2. file paths
  3. applications
  4. URLs (begin with "http://" or so)

Open Ignition at Login

Right click Ignition icon on Dock and select "Open at Login" in the Options menu. You can also register Ignition as an login item in the Accounts pane of System Preferences like below.
